Healthy Boy

Today we went back to the GI specialist for our follow-up appointment. Tyler had taken all of his medicine just fine and I think even looked forward to "doing it himself." He had gotten thrush over the holidays but didn't seem too bothered by it and once again enjoyed the medicine. He is now a whopping 22 lbs. That may not seem like much but it meant that he put on 8% his body weight in about a month. Apparently, it's equivalent to something like 17 lbs for an adult. I didn't do the math, blame the doc if it doesn't make sense to you. :) So for now, he's a healthy boy and will hopefully continue to pack away the pounds - we all know he could use it!

Our little gamer...

Its just so sad. Aaron has been playing a lot of Call of Duty lately to 'try out' our new TV. Tyler loves to watch although the content is not exactly baby friendly. He typically insists on having his own controller too. Aaron decided let Tyler sit on his lap and like any kid, I'm sure, figured out which button was the shooter. Loving the vibration, its about the only button he pushes - whether he's "playing" or not. Way to go, Aaron...

Overdue Update

so I am going to post date a few of these because I have been so lazy and haven't posted anything for almost 2 months! So this is really for the people that I don't see too often. For those of you that I do see more often, it's all old news so feel free to wait for something new! (no guarantees when that will be though:)

3rd Time's the Charm

We were looking forward to our friend's annual Christmas party this year because they hire one of the most realistic, best dressed santas to come to their house. The other kids go nuts! Luckily since it was the last Christmas party we went to, Tyler sat nice and quiet on Santa's Lap. Getting him to smile was a different story but at least he didn't freak out. It's crazy to see how much Tyler has changed since last year!!

Celebrating 4 years!

Today was our 4 year anniversary! It seems like 4 years (plus 2 dating) has been a long time but also that it just kind of flew by. It seems to creep up on us since we're usually so focused on Christmas around the corner so we typically don't plan anything too crazy, but I did make sure to mention it earlier in the week. Aaron has been especially busy the last few weeks and he simply replied, "Oh crap, remind me on Thursday." I actually thought it was funny.
For some reason we always go to P.F.Changs. We both really like it and I know there are more places out there, but I think we've just made it a tradition in order to avoid any intricate planning. We had a really good time without Tyler and Aaron managed to take only 1 phone call. p.s. - that's a big deal :)
Looking forward to lots and lots of anniversaries!

What a relief!

For the past few months Tyler has had some issues. He's never really had a huge appetite and has always been on the skinny side but a few weeks ago when he was throwing up a few times a day and hardly eating anything, I knew there had to be a reason. On a Friday I took him to the doctor and after telling him Tyler's problems he took one look at his giant, bloated belly and ordered a ton of bloodwork and x-rays. It was the saddest thing I've ever done to help hold him down while they drew blood - 3 times! After looking at the x-rays the doctor got on the phone with a pediatric GI (Im not even going to attempt to spell that out!) specialist. We were told he most likely had celiac disease, which means he was allergic to gluten: all oats, wheat, barley...etc. On top of all that, one of the symptoms is lactose intolerance. So I went out and bought all these expensive groceries and gave him only soy milk until our appointment on Monday. To our relief the specialist wasn't convinced it was celiac and requested a 'sample' to test for 2 other treatable problems. Almost a whole week later we were informed that it was H-pylori, a cureable bacteria infection. After 2 antibiotics and pills for a month he should be fine. Thank goodness the kid can eat pizza - its his favorite!
